JESSE SABBATIS (he/him/nekom)
NISOLUHKET/INDIGENOUS OUTREACH COORDINATOR
Jesse is a proud member of the Wolastoqey Nation in New Brunswick and is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science at the University of New Brunswick in the Environment and Natural Resources program, with a focus on Water Resource Management.
Jesse's passion for environmental stewardship began through the Aboriginal Fishing Strategy (AFS) programs in his home community of Bilijk, where he participated in habitat restoration projects to support aquatic life on the reserve. He later served as a Fisheries Guardian for the Bilijk waterfront, ensuring the protection of endangered species. In 2016, he was elected to the Bilijk Band Council, where he served two terms before returning to UNB to further his education.
Jesse now joins Nature Trust NB as their Indigenous Outreach Coordinator, also known as Nisoluhket—"one who works between both Western and Indigenous worldviews."
